The Akron-AAUP Negotiation Team, lead by Chief Negotiator, Kevin Kreider, has been working with the administration over the summer on a new collective bargaining agreement.
The collective bargaining agreement expired June 30th. The Akron-AAUP and The University of Akron have agreed to a day-to-day extension of that agreement until negotiations have concluded. Faculty are not working without a contract; all terms and provisions of the contract continue. Our goal is to complete the negotiations by the end of the semester, and have a new contract in place beginning on January 1, 2016.
As the semester proceeds, we will keep faculty informed of any progress made in negotiations. The next negotiating meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7th.
