A meeting of the dues-paying members of Akron-AAUP will be held Thursday, September 5 at 4 PM in the Martin Center Ballroom. Details of a potential new collective bargaining agreement with The University of Akron will be presented. Once a final draft of the possible agreement has been prepared it will be distributed to you by email for your review.
An online ratification election will be held beginning likely on Friday, Sept 6. Specific details about the opening and closing dates of this election and instructions for participation will be provided at the meeting and subsequently via e-mail. After this meeting please watch your university e-mail for an invitation from SurveyGizmo. We suggest that you keep an eye on your “spam” folder as well.
You will have a full week to review the agreement before closing of the vote.
This is short notice and we are on a pretty tight deadline. Given the circumstances, the short notice for this meeting cannot be helped. We encourage you to attend if at all possible.
There will be a meeting of the Liaison Council immediately BEFORE the chapter meeting. Your department may have held elections already for the position of liaison, and our list may be out-of-date. If you are the newly elected liaison for your program please try to attend the Liaison Council meeting at 3 PM, also in the Martin Center ballroom. The liaisons will be voting whether to recommend the agreement to the full membership.
Finally, please note that this meeting is for dues-paying members of the chapter only. Fair Share (agency) fee payers who are not also chapter members, and chapter members whose dues are in arrears will not be admitted to the meeting and will have no vote on ratification.
Again: An important meeting of the Akron-AAUP membership will be held to discuss the details of a possible contractual agreement between Akron-AAUP and The University of Akron.
