The Administration of The University of Akron and The University of Akron Chapter of the American Association of University Professors have reached tentative agreement on all issues pertaining to contract negotiations.
“We are pleased to come to an agreement, and we look forward to a more collaborative relationship with the Administration going forward,” said Akron-AAUP President, Dr. Pamela Schulze, Professor of Child and Family Development and Director of the Center for Family Studies. “We believe this will provide the kind of security and stability that the University needs in order to turn the page and meet the challenges of the near future.”
The tentative agreement now must be ratified by the membership of the Akron-AAUP and the University’s Board of Trustees. The timetable for ratification is being established.
Both parties recommend ratification to their respective constituents.
“I am very pleased with the tremendous spirit of collaboration demonstrated by both the University’s negotiating team and that of the Akron-AAUP during this process,” said University President Gary L. Miller. “This tentative agreement is the result of countless hours of work by so many and I am grateful for those efforts. The future of The University of Akron is, indeed, bright.”
